My First Born For a Song

Well, I read this post recently on a few different blogs namely Paula's Random Ramblings and Musings and Marian's High Life of Mars. I was thinking about doing the Tag after reading Paula's post but it completely slipped my mind. When I read Marian's post earlier today I began thinking about what music means to me.

Last year I sat my leaving cert and for my English exam my composition was a personal essay about music. It wasn't about me being a brilliant musician, trust me I haven't a note in my head, but more about what music has brought to my life. Music is one of the major bonds I have with my Dad, as a 19 year old you will notice that some of the songs featured below are a bit before my time (not as many as I would have expected mind you). My Dad is most definitely to thank for my eclectic music taste and he always steers me in the right direction music wise. One of my favourite bands is BellX1 and my Dad introduced me to them, what seems like an eternity ago and quite frankly I have never looked back. I was disappointed that BellX1 didn't feature below. ;(

On to the important part, you will definitely notice from the answers that I have a whole load of random music in my library but I love it all the same!

FOTN :)

Last night I was out with my college class for dinner and we went out afterwards, it was brilliant craic and one of the rare opportunities that the whole (well majority) of the class were out together. We went to Captain Americas and had lots of cocktails with our dinner. A few of the lads decided to do some karaoke too. It was a good laugh.
I being disorganised had absolutely no time to get ready because I only got home from college at 7.30 and was mean't to be back in town for 8. Needless to say I didn't make it in time.

I really liked my make-up though and decided on the bus into town that I would take pictures for a FOTN. You can clearly see that I took the pictures on the bus, I apologise. Luckily there was nobody else upstairs otherwise they might have thought I was a lunatic!

Puppies who need love!

This post is very off the point of make-up but I just needed to get it out there!

People hear about dogs being abandoned all the time. It's on the tv, radio and billboards, but do we ever really think about what happens to these dogs and cats who have been left to fend for themselves or handed into animal shelters? If we're honest for the majority of us the answer is no.

I have been fortunate enough to have a rescue dog who we found knocked down in Wexford town. He was only a small puppy and no one looked for him after we found him. This was a relief for us as we had instantly fallen in love with Rua. Even though this was great for us, it makes me think about the person who abandoned a defenseless puppy??

Since we found Rua 5 years ago now I have had a much bigger part to play in the fostering of rescue dogs. In the yard where I work at weekends and holidays, David fosters rescue dogs. Over the past few years we have rehomed close to 50 dogs. My family convinced my Gran and Grandad to take red steer x labrador puppy, who was found by a passer by tied in a plastic bag in a ditch with 6 other pups. Ted landed on his feet with my grandparents and is a big cuddly bear, they couldn't be happier with him.

At the moment there are 5 puppies and 2 older dogs looking for homes who are absolutely gorgeous and couldn't be more friendly. They have been with us for the past 3 months or so and the lurcher cross pups are getting quite big now which is often off putting for people who know that they will be big dogs but want a tiny puppy initially! They are still the biggest babies and love a good cuddle and to lick your face at any opportunity, yuck!

(I just realised there are no pictures of the older two. Oops. Also excuse the quality, it;s quite difficult to take pictures of puppies as they run around!)

Funnily enough, with all the dogs that we have had in the yard over the years, there has never been a vicious or bad tempered dog which brings me to wonder why anyone would abandon these dogs.

Even though we have rehomed a lot of dogs and many other fosterers have too there are always going to be sad stories too. While we were at the vet last week bringing one of the dogs to be neutered there were two litters of puppies there to be put down because there was no space for them to be fostered. These puppies were perfectly healthy and weren't given a chance at life because of the selfishness of the owners of these dogs. Seeing this kind of carelessness and lack of respect for their dogs really saddens me and angers me at the same time.

Even if you cannot rehome a dog any donations to your local animal shelter or SPCA is more than welcome by then and is valuable in the running of the society. If you already have a dog make sure it is neutered, help prevent anymore unwanted pets.

Beauty Emporium Goodies!

Beauty Emporium Order

I arrived home from college today feeling quite rubbish with a massive headache and feeling thoroughly frostbitten at the lovely early hour of 7pm. Yum. Thankfully my dinner was ready and I was restored to a somewhat acceptable mood, then I was informed my package had come and I was DELIGHTED!

I bought 5 items from The Beauty Emporium all of which arrived safe and sound! I'm absolutely over the moon! Three of the items are for me, probably should have spent the money on Christmas presents but Oh well! The other two I bought for presents (I'm not all selfish.)

I bought two Urban Decay Smoke Out Kits for presents, they are really cute, smaller than I expected but for the price €12  think they are well worth it. The kit includes 4 small eyeshadows, a mini 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero, a mini eyeshadow brush and a mini mascara. I bought the kits in Sweet Lucy and Yerba. They are from a very old collection but they are lovely so I decided I'd buy them anyway!
Sorry the pics aren't my own but because they are presents I don't want to open them!

Yerba
Sweet Lucy

I also indulged in an eos lip balm for €5.75 which I have been hearing raves about all the time! I bought the summer fruits one and it's so cute and smells delicious! I'm not sure how effective it is yet because I just tried it about an hour ago but it feels lovely on my lips and has a nice taste, bonus. Photos are a bit rushed because I was dying to get this post up!

The NYX 'Slide on, Glide on, Stay on & definitely a turn on waterproof, extreme shine eyeliner' was my next purchase for €8.It is so pigmented and very like the UD 24/7 liner in Zero in looks and texture and you can nearly buy two NYX ones for the price of one UD which are €15. I'm not sure how it fares on the eyes but from what I can see I'm going to like it. I swatched it on my hand and just rubbed it with my fingerabout 2 minutes later, no budge at all! It does smudge directly after application though which is good if you want to smoke out your liner below your lashes or for a smokey eye. As of now I like it a lot.
Pencil on Lid

Smoked under lashes
My last purchase was the Sleek Ink Pot Gel Eyeliner which was €8 aswell. It's good. Really good. I took off my make-up to put it on and I'm blown away. Read about this on Viva Adonis do they ever disappoint? Here are some pics of it on me and swatched.

Left: NYX Glide On pencil. Right: Sleek Ink Pot.

That is my lot! Hopefully they live up to my expectations, I'll keep you posted. :)
